Missionaries to the Tribes
FOR HIS KINGDOM Missionaries to the Tribes

PO Box 620 Murrayville, GA 30564
Just as with many of you, much of the Lord's ministry through us takes place as a part of daily living. As Paul writes to the Church in Corinth, we are all called to be ministers of the new covenant and express the love, mercy and grace that Christ has so freely given us to those around us - this happens most of the time unknowingly. In addition to what the Lord has called us to do specifically with indigenous tribal groups in Honduras, we pray daily for the Lord to show us how He would use us to glorify Him and bring the love of Christ to a lost and hurting people through simply living and abiding in HIM. We are blessed that we are able to do that in a country with MANY lost and hurting people. A few examples of this are:
- We employ native Hondurans to help us with the ministry and in maintaining our home. Please do not think of this as frivolous, it is just another way that we can provide for other Honduran families through work rather than just giving hand-outs. For example, a young Honduran woman, Judy, comes to our home a few days a week and we pay her generously. However, even though she is working she still has problems making ends meet and providing basic necessities for her family (she has two young girls, ages 4 and 2). In the month of September she did not have the money to pay her electric bill, so we “loaned” her the money to pay it and through the process provided some financial/budgetary counseling as well. As we continue this relationship with her, we pray that we are able to minister to she and her family in other ways as well.
- Through our home church in Honduras,Brigadas de Amor Cristiano (Brigade of Christian Love), we will be serving in urban daycare centers in some of the worst neighborhoods of Tegucigalpa. These centers are provided to women who are trying to work and provide for their families, but cannot afford to put them in childcare. The women pay what they can when they can, the children are given a safe, supervised environment and a meal (for many of these children it is their only meal of the day). Without these types of centers, the alternative is that the children are left at home in very bad living conditions without parental care, and as a result many times end up in orphanages. These centers strive to keep the families intact, and we are blessed to be able to help in this capacity.
- Our two older girls, Cassidy (12) and Hannah (10), feel called to serve with in their community. When we were preparing food sacks to be taken to one of the Tolupan villages, they said they also wanted to do something for the people in need that live around us. As a result they decided to bake cakes/brownies/sweets and carry these along with eggs door to door to needy families in Santa Lucia. Most Honduras families can barely afford to buy the staple items of beans and rice, so receiving eggs and sweets is a real treat and has been received with much joy by the families they have touched so far. We pray that the Lord will continue to grow this ministry through them.
- A young orphan girl (name withheld for her sake!) who has been close to us since we first began serving at OE - actually she is now a young lady - comes to stay with us atleast once a week to have a few home cooked meals, take a hot shower, do some laundry, and just chill out with us. We love the fact that she feels comfortable coming and going, BUT most of all we love that she can have a sense of family with us - which was missing for most of her life. This is only possible through the love we share for Christ and the "family" that we have in His body.
"Such confidence as this is ours through Christ before God. Not that we are compentent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant - not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life." 2 Corinthians 3:4-6
"Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him." John 7:38
